It has been a year since her passing.
On February 2, family, relatives, and friends of late Taiwanese actress-singer Barbie Hsu gathered to commemorate the one-year mark of her passing in 2025.
During which, a ceremony was held, led by her husband DJ Koo, for the formal unveiling of a statue called Eternal Orbit of Hsi-yuan, with the latter being her actual given name.
Standing at about 330 cm and with an installation range is about 72 square meters, the statue will stand permanently in Jinshan, New Taipei City, looking out at her familiar skyline in Taiwan, according to designer Chendao Lee.
He also noted that the project is an installation of a large S statue and abstract object side by side.
“After months of repeated discussion and correction, the project was completed with stainless steel and brass casting,” added Lee.
The designer also told that her husband, DJ Koo, leaves her “a track that will not end with sculpture, keeping her thoughts running.“
Hence, the nine cubes surrounding the bust like planets – which are both Koo’s core creation symbol and a long-supporting, gentle watchful artistic life, noting that Koo is the number “nine” in Korean.
Aside from Koo, also reported to have attended the event were Barbie’s Meteor Garden co-stars Jerry Yan, Vic Zhou, and Rainie Yang.
Hsu passed away at the age of 48 in Japan after contracting influenza during a family trip there during the winter season.
