In a report by The Korea Herald, it disclosed that Korean superstar Cha Eunwoo has been baptized as a Catholic amid his continuing military service.
The ASTRO member, who us currently fulfilling his role as part of the Army Military Band, was given the name John The Baptist and was given the sacrament during a Church service inside the camp on an undisclose date in June 2026.
According to local media, enlisted soldiers are given the freedom to attend religious services held in each unit, with anyone, regardless of their prior religious affiliation, may attend another church or temple during holidays or weekends.
This is the latest update from Eunwoo, who entered the mandatory conscription for able-bodied Korean males between the ages of 18-28 back in July 2025 and is scheduled to be discharged in January 2027.
Within that span, he was able to release his music with the second mini-album Else dropping in November 2025 and his fantasy comedy series The WonderFools having been released last May.
Last January, he was also embroiled in a tax controversy, which he has since settled according to his statement last April.
“I respect the procedures and results of the National Tax Service, and I have paid all relevant taxes to prevent further confusion. I will also faithfully participate in the remaining procedures,” he said at that time.
Eunwoo made his debut in 2016 as part of the group ASTRO. Aside from music, he also took on lead roles in drama serials like My ID is Gangnam Beauty, Rookie Historian Goo Hae Ryung, True Beauty, A Good Day To Be A Dog, and Wonderful World.
