She has once again become a viral personality on social media.
During her recent live broadcast on the GMA morning show Unang Hirit, reporter EJ Gomez has once again caught the attention of users on social media.
Reporting from a rally along EDSA on Tuesday, June 30, the correspondent was showing how the heavy downpour has resulted to the protesters banding together underneath umbrellas and other shady areas, while some opted to wear their own raincoats.
Rather than saying the Filipino word for it, which is “kapote,” she mistakenly uttered ” kapota,” which drew attention among netizens.
Others were quick to understand the situation, while there were also those that chose to make it light by saying that she might have mixed the word with “bota,” the Filipino word for a pair of boots.
Reacting to one of the posts, which have since garnered over thousands of views on Facebook, Gomez commented: “Hello, mga KaPUSO! I had no idea that’s the word that came out in my mouth until we did a playback of our live! It’s among what a rally does to the media.”
She also jokingly asked the people to “save the situation” and take the earlier explanation of her mixing the Filipino words for “raincoat” and “boots.”
EJ said, “Pero baka pwedeng isalba na lang natin thru pinagsamang kapote at bota?! HUHUHAHA. 🐒😭😅”
This is not the first time that EJ has gone viral on social media, as she had previously made headlines herself for her “on fleek” look during her coverages — including in the middle of storms — with netizens quipping about her “setting spray” and other beauty regimen.
There was also an instance when she had to report to work right after the GMA Gala in August 2025, leading, again, to her getting viral.
