She is moving to the public sector.
In a lengthy social media post, former GMA News reporter Saleema Refran has officially announced her departure from the Kapuso network after more than 15 years.
“It is with a grateful heart that I end my 15 years as a Kapuso,” she opened her post. “Maraming nakilala. Maraming kwentong naibalita at higit sa lahat, maraming aral sa bawat storya.”
She then expressed her pride in becoming part of the organization, which she joined back in 2010.
“Isa sa pinakamalaking karangalan ng aking buhay ang maging Kapuso at maging bahagi ng pinakamatikas at pinaka-pinagkakatiwalaang pwersa sa pagbabalita,” wrote the journalist.
Saleema shared that the past few weeks had been a “blur” for her, before continuing by thanking all the people she had worked with over the course of her tenure with the network.
“Sa tech boys and ROCs na unang nagpaiyak sa akin sa pagpapaalam, maraming salamat sa buong pusong serbisyo. Sa bawat pagharap natin sa mga bagyo, lindol, pagputok ng bulkan at hamon ng pandemya, umeere tayo sa tulong ninyo,” she said.
Refran also sent her thanks to the cameramen and assistant cameramen, who she referred to as her “kasangga” (“companion”) in each story, including challenging times.
“Walang ‘ako’ kung wala kayo. Ang bawat storya ko nabubuhay dahil sa galing, tiyaga at sipag ninyo,” Saleema told.
For her fellow reporters and anchors, she thanked them for the guidance. She also conveyed her gratitude to the people in the newsroom and production teams.
In her message to viewers, she told, “Sa mga sumubaybay sa aking karera, salamat po sa panonood at pagtitiwala sa akin sa nakalipas na 15 taon.”
Saleema then hinted about what she is going to do in the next stage of her career. “Hindi po nagtatapos dito ang aking pagseserbisyo. No goodbyes, just see you around—sa kabilang gilid na nga lang ng EDSA.“
According to a report by GMA-affiliated entertainment news portal PEP, Saleema has accepted the role of being the Public Information Officer of the Office of the Ombudsman.
To end, she referenced her viral meme back in 2022 and wrote, “At opo, ginalaw ko na po ang ulo ko 😂”
