The award-winning team has been assembled once again.
In an article by the Philippine Entertainment Portal, Nessa Valdellon, who sits as the Executive Vice President of GMA Pictures and Senior Vice President of GMA Public Affairs, confirmed that one of the projects in the pipeline for the Kapuso film outfit.
Asked on whether they intend to join the upcoming 52nd edition of the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) in December, Valdellon confirmed the production’s goal of joining for the the fourth consecutive year.
She revealed that they have tapped critically-acclaimed director Zig Dulay, who directed no less than the back-to-back MMFF Best Picture winners Firefly (2023) and Green Bones (2024).
In the project, Dulay will be teaming up with Kapuso Drama King Dennis Trillo, whom he worked with in Green Bones.
“Yes! This is a Zig Dulay film. It’s very beautiful, and it also stars Dennis Trillo,” Valdellon confirmed. “So we’re praying very hard. Nasa gitna kami ng pagsu-shoot at naka-11 days na kami of 22.“
The Kapuso executive also confirmed that National Artist for Film and Broadcast Arts Ricky Lee and Anj Atienza, who have also teamed up for Green Bones, are also onboard as screenwriters.
Prior to this, Dennis was spotted in a meeting with the powerhouse team last April, which drummed up speculations about his return to MMFF this year.
At present, no other details have been revealed yet regarding the project, with the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), which organizes the MMFF, set to announce entries in the coming weeks.
