SB19, BINI and Lea Salonga among featured artists in ‘Forgotten Island’ OST

In a report by the entertainment publication Variety, Filipina-American Angela Leus, who is the senior vice president of Film Music at Universal Pictures, confirmed the names of artists that will be participating in the official soundtrack of the upcoming animated movie Forgotten Island.

The said film, which is led by Grammy Award-winning H.E.R. and actress Liza Soberano, who serve as the voices of central characters, which are Jo and Raissa, respectively.

The two lead stars are confirmed for the film’s title track entitled BRB.

Meanwhile, Lea Salonga, who breathes life to the character of the Dreaded Manananggal, is also said to be participating in the official soundtrack of the movie.

The Nation’s Girl Group BINI, for their part, are set to deliver a new song called A Parallel World, which is produced by composer Nathan Matthew David and Shawn Wasabi. 

The classic song Never Tear Us Apart by INXS has also been performed by KATSEYE’s Sophia Laforteza, which will be used for the emotional moment between the two core characters.

P-pop superstars SB19, for their part, will cover Francis Magalona’s Mga Kababayan, while Ruby Ibarra and Carl Angelo will be doing the song Salbahae Ako.

Rounding up the film’s soundtrack are DMX’s Party Up and Baha Men’s Who Let the Dogs Out.

Forgotten Island follows Jo and Raissa have been bestfriends since grade school, but will embark on separate life paths.

As per the synopsis provided, “While celebrating their last night together, Jo and Raissa stumble upon a mysterious portal that transports them to the fantastical island of Nakali, packed with magical and mythological creatures they grew up hearing stories about from their Filipino families.

Some of these figures will become friends, some foes,” continued the studio. “Joined by well-meaning-but- hapless weredog Raww and a small-but-mighty pack of pals, Jo and Raissa must face The Dreaded Manananggal, the most feared creature on the island.

Raww will be portrayed by Dave Franco, while The Dreaded Manananggal, as mentioned, is no other than Lea Salonga.

When they discover that the memories of their entire friendship are the price for returning home, Jo and Raissa will race to find a way to leave the island before they forget each other forever.

Also part of the all-star voice cast for the movie are Jenny Slate, Manny Jacinto, Dolly de Leon, Jo Koy, and Ronny Chieng.

The film is written and directed by Joel Crawford and Januel Mercado, and produced by Mark Swift, who are the filmmaking team behind Puss in Boots: The Last Wish.

The movie is set to be distributed by Universal Pictures and will hit theaters in September 2026.
