Making record after record.

Making record after record.

Despite missing the finals of the Grass Court Championships Berlin in Germany last weekend after losing to Czech player Linda Noskova in the semis on Saturday, June 20, Filipina tennis star Alex Eala’s rise is unstoppable.

As of the most recent global rankings issued by the Women’s Tennis Association, the 21-year-old has seen her position take a leap by five spots, becoming the new world no. 30 after ranking 35th in the previous index.

It comes after her strong run in the Berlin Open, where she defeated two top ten players in Elena Rybakina and Elina Svitolina.

And to add to her latest achievement, the Filipina athlete has also made history anew when she became the first Filipina to be seeded in a Grand Slam event.

Alex has been named the 29th seed in the provisional table, receiving a first-round bye in the tournament, which is considered to be one of the highlights in the annual calendar of the sport.

Meanwhile, on Monday evening (Manila time), Alex is set to take on Elise Mertens in the Round of 32 of the Bad Homburg Open in Germany.

She will also compete alongside Venus Williams in the Round of 16 of Women’s Doubles against Alexandra Osbourne and Catherine Harrison on Tuesday, June 23.
