AHOF’s JL, Steven catch attention of Vice Ganda, Anne Curtis over ‘It’s Showtime’ spoof

They remade the ever-popular discourse on menudo.

They remade the ever-popular discourse on menudo.

In a reel uploaded on the band’s social media accounts last Saturday, June 20, Filipino K-pop idol JL Gaspar was joined Steven, his fellow member in the boy band AHOF.

Together, the two stars remade the iconic banter between two Filipino superstars, host-comedian Vice Ganda and actress-host Anne Curtis, on the noontime variety program It’s Showtime.

Particularly, JL and Steven, who have been given the duo name SteJay, did the viral moment from 2017, when the TV hosts discussed the ingredients of the local dish menudo.

It became etched in the history of viewers, the Madlang People, after Anne made use of the term capsicum, which refers to bell peppers in Australia, instead of the standard name that is widely used in the Philippines — which confused Vice and audiences inside the studio at first, before being used by the comedian as part of the long-running punchline of her co-host being part of the high class.

In the shortform video, JL portrated Vice, while Steven did an impression of Anne. And instantly, Pinoy fans have noted how their roles fit the both of them, as JL is proudly Filipino, while Steven was born in Australia—the very same country where Anne was also born.

The cute moment has since garnered the attention of the hosts as well, with Anne having quoted the video and said on her X account: “Hahaaha so cute!

Meanwhile, Vice shared her amusement and approval of the skit between the two K-pop stars. “Waaaaahhhhhhhhh!!!!! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏”, the host-comedian reacted on X.

After hearing about the news, JL took to fan-connection platform to express his happiness after getting noticed by the two superstars.

Writing in a mix of gibberish out of pure excitement, the Pinoy K-pop idol conveyed in his first set of messages, “Nakita ni Miss Anne yung video namin! I’m crying…”

“Si Meme Vice din, nakita na. Hello po Meme Vice, bekenemen po,” he added.

This is another instance of the group getting viral for their increasing level of adoption to Filipino humor.

In the past month, they also made rounds after JL tested out the skills of Steven and their other fellow member Jeongwoo in local tongue-twister, with latter acing the line “pitumpu’t pitong puting tupa.”

Although, Steven, despite his efforts, fell through the trap and stumbled in pronouncing the last word correctly.

For Filipino fans, the wait for them is not going to last for long, as all nine members of AHOF—which also includes Woongki, Shuaibo, Han, Juwon, Chihen, and Daisuke—will return to Manila this July for their two-night concert at the Mall of Asia Arena, which is part of their The First Spark Tour.

Also, the band has also revealed on late Sunday night (Philippine time), their forthcoming comeback on July 8 with the release of their third extended play entitled Run To You.

AHOF was formed through the survival show Universe League and made their debut in July 2025 with the single Rendezvous, which was later followed by the release of Pinocchio in November that year.
