Last Sunday, January 4, independent digital publication Trendrod published the full version of its Best Shows of 2025 feature, which named the Top 40 programs on Philippine TV and streaming platforms.

Aside from those aired or produced by media giants like ABS-CBN and GMA, as well as TV5-MediaQuest and Viva, the said list also included those made by independent production houses and other networks.

Of the forty, two shows from other companies made it—the reality program Drag Race Philippines: SlaySian Royale and the quiz bee Bilyonaryo Quiz B. They respectively ranked 19th and 40th for that year.

The former, which is a spin-off of the Philippine franchise that streamed on Wow Presents Plus, was complimented for being able to give “second chances to the drag queens from earlier versions (of the local franchise) and abroad to showcase their wit, talent, and antics through this series.”

As for the latter that aired on the Bilyonaryo News Channel, it was praised for being a “celebration of intelligence and a challenge to the grit and composure of contestants,” which were “once familiar sights on local television that have taken the backseat for a long time due to shifting preferences of viewers, whether that is for better or for worse.”

Aside from the two productions, other programs from independent houses and platforms were given honorable mentions. These were Happy Crush (Netflix), The Daily Dish (Bilyonaryo News Channel), and The Newsmaker (Newswatch Plus).

The said list named the nation’s top productions in both linear television and streaming media.

To qualify, these must be original shows produced by Filipino production companies, TV networks, or streaming services and their respective series or season premiere dates must have taken place from January 1 to December 21, 2025.

Programs that have been continuously broadcasting since 2024 or earlier, and did take any months-long season breaks were not considered for this list.
