It has been a decade since she was handpicked to sing the original animated movie’s soundtrack.
In a post on her Instagram account on Tuesday, July 21, actress-singer Janella Salvador earned “wow” reaction from fans when she transformed into the fictional character Moana, the titular character of the popular movie franchise.
The 28-year-old has a history with the said film as for the release of the first installment of the animated version in 2016, she was picked to sing the version of the official soundtrack, How Far I’ll Go, representing the Philippines.
She also sang it anew back in 2022 for the promotion of Disney Plus’ launch in the Philippines.
“Can’t believe it’s been 10 years!! The amount of love I still receive for this soundtrack is actually so crazy to me. Moana at heart. Forever and always,” she wrote in the caption of the post that has already garnered over 100,000 likes, as of this writing.
In another reel, Janella went all-in and delivered a lip-synced performance of the soundtrack while dressed as the character.
Prior to this, last week, on July 15, Janella shared that she also hosted a block screening for the live action adaptation, which is top-billed by Catherine Laga’aia as the titular character and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as Maui — the same character he voiced in the animated film.
Spotted in the said event were her son, Jude, her mother Jenine Desiderio, rumored partner Klea Pineda, and actor Dominic Roque, among others.
