It is an annual tradition that will continue this year.
The Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) will be kicking off its 51st edition with the highly-anticipated Parade of the Stars, which will happen on Friday, December 19 in Makati City, which is the host city for this year’s event.
The Parade of the Stars is the prelude to the MMFF’s nationwide screening, which will kick off on December 25, and is expected to draw crowds and movie fans.
During the program, the stars of the eight official entries will be riding floats their respective films. The movies that are part of the 51st edition are Bar Boys: After School, Call Me Mother, I’m perfect, Love You So Bad, Manila’s Finest, Rekonek, Shake, Rattle & Roll: Evil Origins, and Unmarry.
According to the organizers, the movie-themed floats will assemble at Macapagal Boulevard at 1:00 pm before travelling through the roads of Buendia Avenue, Ayala Avenue, Makati Avenue, JP Rizal Street, A. Reyes Avenue, and will end at Circuit Makati—where there will be a program and performances.
It will run for one-hour and 40 minutes and will cover a distance of 8.4 kilometers. Motorists are also advised to avoid the route of the parade and plan their trips accordingly to avoid inconvenience.
MMDA and Concurrent Overall MMFF Chairman Atty. Don Artes said in his statement, “We are excited to share the celebration with the people in Makati City for the first time. The upcoming 51st Parade of Stars will be another memorable occasion to mark this year’s theme: A New Era for Philippine Cinema.”
The beneficiaries of the MMFF include organizations in the film industry, led by the the Movie Workers Welfare Foundation (Mowelfund), the Film Academy of the Philippines (FAP), the Motion Picture Anti-Film Piracy Council, the Optical Media Board (OMB), and the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP).
