With the goal of expanding access to more intelligent urban services, inclusive financial solutions, and data-driven digital platforms for Filipinos

At the sidelines of President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr.’s state visit to Japan, last May 27, the Ayala Group signed a series of strategic memoranda of understanding (MOUs) with Japanese partners.

The signing, which was witnessed by the Chief Executive, happened as the Philippine government continues to strengthen economic collaboration with Japan, recently elevating its ties to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

Particularly, the tie-up will be in areas that support investment, innovation, infrastructure, and digital transformation.

Hence, the Ayala Corporation, along with Globe Telecom and Mynt (parent company of GCash) are pursuing partnerships with Mitsubishi Corporation, MUFG, and KDDI to pursue what the Filipino firm said are “high-impact collaboration across intelligent cities, digital finance, and data-driven ecosystems, enabling better access for digital and financial products and services in the country.”

Among the agreements is the development of “Intelligent City” initiatives, pioneering with Makati City, with with possible expansion to other Philippine urban areas.

The partners are set to explore data-driven urban platforms through artificial intelligence, Internet of Things (IoT), and advanced connectivity to improve transportation, retail and commercial services, energy management, and digital city services.

These initiatives will then be supported by Globe’s network to improve quality of life, enhance business productivity, and support sustainable growth across sectors such as mobility, retail, energy, and infrastructure.

There will also be joint push to accelerate the growth of financial inclusion by combining the strengths of Ayala, MUFG, and Mitsubishi Corporation for a collaboration focusing on expanding the quality of financial services,  and deepen ecosystem integration.

They also aim to enable cross-border opportunities and advance digital innovation to drive financial inclusion.

Supporting these efforts is a broader initiative to build a digitally driven lifestyle for Filipinos through data-led and innovative solutions, with Mynt enabling enhanced data capabilities, more customized approach and engagement for the customers.

The partnership between Ayala Corporation, Mynt, and Mitsubishi Corporation will cover rewards programs, ticketing services, online payment platforms, and digital marketing solutions under the “Smart Life” initiative.

The collaboration is expected to generate around PhP7 billion in revenues.

Meanwhile, Ayala Corporation, MUFG, and Mynt signed another agreement to help expand GCash services in the Philippines and abroad.

Mitsubishi and MUFG have already previously invested US$700 million in GCash, with the partnership looking tl develop better digital payment systems, lending services, investment products, and stronger online security, while integrating GCash into Ayala and Mitsubishi’s business ecosystems across retail, real estate, energy, mobility, and digital services.

These partnerships reflect our shared commitment to nation-building, leveraging innovation, infrastructure, and technology to support the Philippines’ long-term growth,” said Cezar Consing, President and CEO of Ayala Corporation.

Together with our Japanese partners, Ayala Corporation, Globe, Ayala Land, and Mynt are working to build intelligent urban environments and expand GCash’s role as a powerful platform for financial inclusion. We are creating more connected cities, more inclusive financial systems, and more opportunities for Filipinos to participate in and benefit from the digital economy.”
