Both networks are said to be already ironing out their deal.
In a report by the Philippine Entertainment Portal, it revealed that a meeting had taken place on Thursday, June 11 between ABS-CBN Chief Operating Officer Cory Vidanes and TV5 President Guido Zaballero.
The two business personalities have reportedly engaged in the continuation of their talks regarding the possible revival of their partnership, which ended after nearly five years last January 2026 following a publicized dispute in December last year.
Among the key dates noted was an announcement that will happen on Tuesday, June 16, when they are reportedly going to reveal the revived ABS-CBN and TV5 tie-up.
The renewed partnership will then allegedly begin with the premiere of Coco Martin’s comeback series with Julia Montes, Sigabo, on June 22 (Monday).
At present, ABS-CBN and TV5 remain mum on the matter, which has been heavily reported in the past month.
Meanwhile, a separate source also told that Sigabo will only be the first show to air under the partnership, with TV5’s own production A Secret In Prague, starring Enrique Gil and Andrea Brilliantes, remaining on the Kapatid network’s primetime block.
As regards to My Bespren Emman, topbilled by JM De Guzman, Shaina Magdayao, Ai-ai Delas Alas, and Sid Lucero, it is reportedly being considered to be moved to another available slot within the channel’s programming grid, with a post-Eat Bulaga time slot also allegedly being considered.
ABS-CBN X TV5
It was back in January 2021 when ABS-CBN and TV5 first engaged in a blocktime agreement for the broadcast of the weekly variety show ASAP and the movie block FPJ Da King.
Two months later, in March 2021, the partnership reached a new level when ABS-CBN’s Primetime Bida drama line-up, led by FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano, was added to the TodoMax Primetime block of TV5.
In the succeeding months and years, both parties have engaged in more partnerships, such as the addition of It’s Showtime and Magandang Buhay to the Kapatid network’s programming grid in July 2022 and February 2023, respectively.
At one point, ABS-CBN was also set to invest in TV5 by acquiring a 34.99% stake in August 2022, however that plan fizzled out as soon as members of the House of Representatives—the same body that turned down the renewal of the Kapamilya network’s franchise in 2020—aired their concern over the deal.
Despite that setback, the partnership continued, with the networks teaming up for a pair of afternoon dramas in 2023 via Pira-Pirasong Paraiso and Nag-aapoy na Damdamin.
But the tie-up was shaken in June 2023 when It’s Showtime bade farewell to TV5 after just almost a year of airing after the network signed on the TVJ group for the launch of E.A.T. (now Eat Bulaga) on channel 5 after their dissociation with TAPE, Inc. the month prior.
However, later that month, both parties reached a landmark five-year content supply deal, which include top-rating primetime dramas like FPJ’s Batang Quiapo.
It would later surface in December 2025 that a disagreement between parties emerged due to unsettled financial obligations of the Kapamilya network with the Kapatid network.
It would soon be settled by ABS-CBN with TV5, although the cost would be the end of their partnership effective January 2, 2026 and the transfer of all the Kapamilya primetime shows, ASAP, and Rated Korina to ALLTV2.
ABS-CBN X AMBS
Meanwhile, amid circulating reports, it remains unclear how this will play out for ABS-CBN’s existing tie-up with Advanced Media Broadcasting System (AMBS), which owns ALLTV, and currently has a licensing agreement with the Kapamilya network under the on-air brand ABS-CBN sa ALLTV2.
The channel has been airing almost the entire line-up of Kapamilya Channel on free TV since the January affiliation change, when the Villar family-owned company dropped Jeepney TV in favor of the current flagship’s programming.
As per reports, the AMBS management had already been informed about the talks, with no further information available as regards to their deal.
Should this new deal with TV5 push through, it would mark a major re-expansion of ABS-CBN’s presence in the free-to-air landscape, as its programs are already seen via, as mentioned, ALLTV2, as well as GMA Network, A2Z, and BEAM TV (for Knowledge Channel and DZMM TeleRadyo on PRTV Prime Media).
