Capping her latest winning streak and journey in the competition.

On Saturday, September 27, Filipina tennis player Alex Eala faced off with New Zealand’s Lulu Sun in the crucial semifinals match at the Jingshan Tennis Open 2025 in China.

The 20-year-old attempted to capitalize on her wins in the earlier portions of the contest, which saw her dispatch her opponents after two sets.

However, the game between Eala, who was the top seed, against Sun, the third seed, was anything but like those previous matches.

In the first round, it had already been a gripping scene, as the Pinay tennis star was able to make it past that set with a considerable lead, 6-3.

But that lead by Eala was soon eroded when the Sun took hold of the second set, 4-6. Alas, it was already a sign of what was to come as in the deciding third set, the NZ bet overwhelmed the PH representative, 2-6.

Hence, the current World No. 58 has bowed out of contention, effectively ending her dream of clinching her second WTA 125 trophy in Jingshan.

Prior to the Saturday showdown, Eala and Sun had been rivals at the 2024 Wimbledon Championships, where the former was defeated by the latter, 6-7(3), 5-7.
