The airline closed down at the end of July.
For its last passenger flight, the regional budget carrier JetStar Asia ferried passenger for the final time from Manila’s Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) to Singapore Changi Airport last Thursday, July 31.
Carrying flight number Flight 3K764, 156 passengers rode the Airbus A320 aircraft serviced by seven crew members onboard.
As per Straits Times, the plane departed the Philippine capital at 6:00 pm and arrived at its destination at around 9:00 pm, marking the end of JetStar Asia’s operations.
The said service also bookended the 20-plus years of operations of JetStar Asia, which opened back in the year 2004 as a joint venture between the Qantas group and Singaporean businessmen, offering low-cost flights from its base at Changi Airport to destinations in Southeast Asia, including Manila.
It was back in June when it announced the sad news about it going out of business, citing tje increasingly challenged landscape, driven by rising costs and competition in the region where it operates.
“This has unfortunately put unsustainable pressure on the airline’s ability to offer the low fares fundamental to its business model,” the airline explained.
While the Asian-regional low-cost airline based in Singapore has endrd its over two-decade long service, Jetstar Airways (JQ) flights, including JQ international flights between Australia and Southeast Asia, and any Jetstar Japan (GK) flights are unaffected.
