It has been almost seven years since his last acting project.
In his recent interview with Karen Davila for the broadcaster’s YouTube channel, singer-actor James Reid confirmed his upcoming plans ro return to acting.
James admitted that he has a new project cooking up, telling, “I have a teleserye that currently is in the works. I will be working with a female lead… a very talented actress. I can’t announce just yet. But in due time. We will be taping this year.”
He also noted his excitement to both start the project and work with his still unnamed co-star.
His announcement comes also months after he previously shared his readiness to finally return to acting, nearly seven years since the Filipino film adaptation of ‘Miss Granny’ with Sarah Geronimo in 2018.
Since then, speculations arose about his comeback being a work with Kathryn Bernardo, something that has neither been confirmed, nor denied as of writing.
In 2010, Reid participated in the reality program ‘Pinoy Big Brother,’ where he finished as the big winner of the ‘Teen Clash of 2010’ season.
After becoming ‘MIA’ or missing-in-action in the showbiz scene shortly after his ‘PBB’ win, James returned to the spotlight after signing with Viva Entertainment and starring in the film ‘Diary ng Panget’ opposite former reel-to-real girlfriend Nadine Lustre.
Together, they were paired numerous times in multiple projects as JaDine. The duo starred in the teleseryes ‘On The Wings Of Love,’ and ‘Till I Met You,’ as well as big screen projects ‘Para Sa Hopeless Romantic,’ ‘This Time,’ and ‘Never Not Love You.’
After their public break-up in 2020, James was slated to star in ‘Seoulmate’ with Momoland’s Nancy. However, the project was sheleved amidst the COVID-19 pandemic and the free-to-air broadcast shutdown of ABS-CBN.
Since then, Reid concentrated on expanding his discography, and released his second album ‘Lovescene:’ in 2022.
