The program gifted her with a production number looking back on the sounds that were part of the phenomenon from a decade ago.
During its live episode on Friday, July 4, TV5 noontime show ‘Eat Bulaga’ celebrated the 10th anniversary of Maine Mendoza’s being part of the Dabarkads family.
Co-hosts Ryzza Mae Dizon, Careen Eistrup, and Rabin Angles performed the tracks that were once part of Maine’s routine when she portrayed her iconic ‘KalyeSerye’ character, Yaya Dub, such as Dawin’s ‘Dessert’ and BigBang’s ‘Fantastic Baby’.
Other members of the gang then took the TV host-actress, who was aptly wearing a red polka dotted dress in a nod to Yaya Dub’s apron, to a trip down memory lane.
Together, they looked back on the moments that she had during her early days in the show, including the accidental smile that created the AlDub phenomenon and other scenes from ‘KalyeSerye’.
“Hala, grabe, 10 years na pala ‘yon,” Maine commented on how much time has passed.
When asked about how she felt upon seeing the images, the one-and-only Yaya Dub admitted that she felt sentimental.
“Oo naman, palagi naman. Every time I cast my mind back to the old days, iba ‘yung pakiramdam na 10 years, nandito pa rin ako sa [Eat] Bulaga.”
She added, “lagi ko ngang sinasabi na this is where I’ll always choose to be in Eat Bulaga and sobrang grateful ako sa mga Dabarkads na nakakasama ko [at] dun sa mga tao na nagmamahal at sumusuporta sa akin mula noon hanggang ngayon.”
Over at Instagram, she also dropped photos of her special day in the program and thanked anew the team behind the longest-running noontime show.
Maine Mendoza joined ‘Eat Bulaga’ in July 2015 as the fictional character Yaya Dub for the segment ‘Problem Solving.’
During a split-second magic that month, the team-up between her and Alden, called AlDub, was formed and gave birth to the iconic ‘KalyeSerye’ portion, which brought ‘Eat Bulaga’ to a historic 50% TV rating during the ‘Tamang Panahon’ concert in October 2015.
She then ventured into acting, bagging roles in the movies ‘My Bebe Love,’ ‘Imagine You and Me,’ ‘Jack Em Popoy Puliscredibles,’ ‘Isa Pa With Feelings,’ the television series ‘Destined To Be Yours,’ and sitcom ‘Daddy’s Gurl.’
