It was still quite a strong run for the Pinay tennis star.
On Saturday, June 20, the stakes were high for the Filipina tennis player Alex Eala as she returned to thr Grass Court Championships Berlin in Germany to compete in the semifinals round.
Standing right across her in the field is Czech player Linda Noskova, whom she faced anew after their previous match-up in the Italian Open last May, which saw the Pinay netter ending her stint in the said tournament.
This time around, they faced each other with an even bigger stake, as the winner of that game would proceed to the finals of the WTA 500 tournament.
From the start, Noskova was fired up, pulling away from Eala from early on with a lead reaching 3-1, before that was furthered well into the first set, which ended with the European player on top.
In the second set, Alex was pulling all the strings in order to push the game to an important deciding set, which could change her fate.
At one point, it was close to happening, as the Filipina, who is current world no. 35, was able to even take a lead later in the match, although the Czech, who is then no. 13 in the latest world singles rankings, was able not only level, but make it past her to secure the victory.
In the end, the scoreboard read: 6-2, 6-4, in favor of the Czech woman who will face American Jessica Pegula in the finals round on Sunday.
In an Instagram post after the game, Alex was nothing but grateful for the experience.
“Can’t begin to describe all the emotions I’ve experienced this week, my heart is full! I am forever GRATEFUL Berlin, you are so so special, thank you!” she wrote in the caption of her post, where she attached pictures from her games in the German tennis open.
