She has now started a new season.

She has now started a new season.

On Monday, June 1 (local time), Filipina tennis star Alex Eala has officially moved to the “grass season” with her participation in the 2026 Birmingham Open in the United Kingdom.

She opened her stint with a doubles match together with her Czech pal, Nikola Bartunkova, and faced off with the British pair of Harriet Dart and Maia Lumsden.

It was a close fight for them, as they were able to get a strong rally at the start of the match before their opponents were able to get a footing and eventually go past them to close the round on top during the first set

Eala and Bartunkova, meanwhile, proceeded to retaliate in the second set to force the match into a decider, where the teams were neck-and-neck until Dart and Lumsden were able to win the game, 6-4, 2-6, 11-9.

As a result, the Filipina-Czech duo made an early exit from the doubles category.

Despite that early loss in the WTA 125 tournament, Alex moved on to the singles category, where she played in the round of 32 match on Tuesday, June 2.

During which, she battled it out on the court opposite Australian player Priscilla Hon, where the Filipina netter had a solid run, having swept the first set and almost doing the same in the second set, before her archrival was able to break her streak.

But that came a little too late for Priscilla, with the Alex winning the match with a final score the read, 6-0, 6-2.

With this development, Eala is heading to the Round of 16 next, where she will go against the winner of the match between Germany’s Greet Minnen and Russia’s Alina Charaeva.
