The two of the biggest names of their generation are preparing to work together for the first time.
Last Friday, August 29, ABS-CBN’s production unit Dreamscape Entertainment announced the upcoming return of Asia’s Superstar Kathryn Bernardo and Multimedia Prince James Reid to primetime. And for the first time ever, they will be seen together in one teleserye.
Following the show-stopping announcement, the reveal garnered more than 3.5 million total views on social media in 24 hours.
It has also been dubbed by netizens as the “crossover of all crossovers,” with Kathryn admitting in an interview that she also did not expect to star alongside James in a series since they both came from different love teams.
Kathryn was the other half of KathNiel with Daniel Padilla, while James was previously associated with the JaDine pairing with former partner Nadine Lustre.
“I didn’t expect it. Maybe James didn’t expect it either. Who would have thought that after so many years, with us being part of different love teams, now he’s making a comeback too? It shows that anything is possible. It excites us,” Kathryn said.
She was also quick to clarify that it will not be a love team project. “It’s not a love team, it’s more partnership siya talaga. This is his comeback as well. Meron pa silang kailangang abangan sa kung sino ‘yung mga makakasama namin sa project,” Bernardo said.
To drum up further interest, she also gave a hint as to what viewers can expect from the show and disclosed, “This is very refreshing. I love the concept of this series. Out of all the stories that were presented, this one was something that I really wanted to do because it’s not just about a love story. It’s about friendship, family, and women.”
At present, further details about the series such as the title, plot, and cast members are yet to be revealed, although Kathryn said that they are already due to begin taping next week.
Aside from being Kathryn and James’ first time to work together, the series also serves as their comeback ABS-CBN teleserye since Kathryn’s ‘2 Good 2 Be True’ in 2022, and James’ ‘Till I Met You’ in 2016.
