The agency has taken action on the matter.
In a statement issued on Saturday, July 5, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) said that it has already summoned the registered owner and the driver of sports car who was using a cellular phone while driving on the highway in a recent viral video on social media.
Both the registered owner and the driver were asked to appear before the LTO Central Office and submit an explanation why they should not be held administratively liable.
LTO Chief, Assistant Secretary Atty. Vigor D. Mendoza II said, “Anuman ang klase ng sasakyan na minamaneho ay dapat matuto pa rin tayong sumunod sa mga batas trapiko.”
“If the driver is indeed a content creator, then there is this responsibility for him to set a good example to his followers,” added the official.
He disclosed that the driver, which was not named by the agency, of the Porsche sports car was apparently creating a content for social media using the expensive motor vehicle.
Although posts circulating online indicate that the driver in the clip is content creator anf entrepreneur Josh Mojica who is known for his kangkong chips that made rounds online during the height of the pandemic.
As such, the LTO has already moved by suspending the license of the identified driver for 90 days pending the result of the investigation.
It was also revealed that in the show cause order (SCO) signed by LTO-Intelligence and Investigation Division chief Renante Melitante, the driver could be liable for at least three charges.
These are reckless driving, violation of the Anti-Distracted Driving Act (Sec. 4 of R.A. No. 10913), and being an Improper Person to Operate a Motor Vehicle (Sec. 27 (a) of R.A. No. 4136).
Of which, the lattermost violation could mean that he would get his driver’s license revoked by the authorities.
Aside from suspension of driver’s license, the Porsche was also placed under alarm, the LTO furthered.
