These were witnessed by hundreds of thousands viewers that tuned in the livestream and the simulcast on TV.
On Saturday, May 2, the Mise Universe Philippines 2026 coronation night happened at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
As it was a celebration of beauty, talent, and wit of the Filipina queens that competed, it also drew high viewership across platforms.
Emerging as the most talked-about moments of the night was the portion when Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab season 1 second big placer and Kapamilya actor-model Ralph de Leon appeared.
It happened later into the evening, when he was tapped to introduce Miss Universe Philippines 2025 Ahtisa Manalo for her farewell speech and walk.
But it was not a smooth-sailing part, to say the least. De Leon, while being heard on the live stream, was unable to proceed to his spiels as his audio was not heard throughout the arena.
This led him to restarting the first word of his spiels “tonight” four times, which led to netizens tagging him on social media and even joking that he could host a program or podcast called Tonight With Ralph.
Anyway, it took four times before a working microphone was finally handed to him, which allowed Ralph to finally call on Ahtisa.
In an interview with vlogger Barbieliciousss, Ralph shared how he felt at that moment.
“Nung second, hindi pa rin nag-wo-work, medyo nagpapanic na ako. Sabi ko, ‘grabe, pangalawa na ‘to. Ano’ng mangyayari dito?” the actor-model told.
He added, “‘Di ko alam kung maririnig ba ako sa TV, sa live. Tapos, nung babdang third at fourth (try), wala… tawa na lang ako nang tawa sa stage ‘e.”
Aside from Ralph, his fellow Kapamilya artists and P-pop group BGYO also experienced technical issues during their performance in the early part of the show.
Audio issues marred their performance of All These Ladies during the opening walk of the candidates on the livestream, as the backtrack overwhelmed the live vocals of members Gelo, Akira, JL, Mikki, and Nate.
In response, the band uploaded on its official YouTube channel the fancam version of the said performance, where their voices could be heard clearly.
Perhaps, the line “all’s well that ends well” applies to the situation as the evening ended with the successful crowning of the new Miss Universe Philippines, Bea Millan-Windorski, who will represent the country in the upcoming 75th Miss Universe in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
