Through the social media pages of ABS-CBN noontime variety program It’s Showtime directly addressed speculations about its supposed extension to Sunday afternoons.
The hit show, which airs six times a week, has been floated by many netizens as a possible replacement to the Sunday noon slot that will be vacated by the weekly variety show ASAP.
This, as the latter will be rebranded to ASAP XP and air at 5:30 pm starting May 17.
In a playful manner, the Showtime production team made a “dogshow” out of the matter and posted an updated art card promoting its airing times.
It read as “Mondays to Saturdays at 12:00 noon” and on Sundays, “pahinga po kami.”
ASAP’S MOVE TO PRIMETIME
The transfer of ASAP to primetime stunned netizens and viewers on Saturday (May 2) as it has been aired on the Sunday noontime slot ever since its premiere back in February 1995.
This marks a clear departure from its traditional lunchtime slot, which it once dominated for much of its past three decades on the air.
Since the terrestrial network shutdown of ABS-CBN in 2020, ASAP has struggled to maintain TV viewership—with some episodes even rating as low as 0.8%, as per the National Urban Television Audience Measurement (NUTAM)—as audiences continue their shift to online platforms, including Kapamilya Online Live on Facebook and YouTube.
ASAP XP will air on ABS-CBN sa ALLTV2, Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, A2Z, iWant, and TFC.
For its first episode, it will broadcast performances from its upcoming star-studded shows at the Araneta Coliseum on May 10.
Meanwhile, at present, ABS-CBN has not yet revealed the replacement for the slot that will be vacated by ASAP.
