The ‘Unkabogable’ star said that she did that to boost the morale of the participant.
During ‘It’s Showtime’s’ episode on Friday, July 19, a searcher named April, who has been diagnosed with alopecia, participated in the segment ‘Expecially For You.’
While sharing the story of her life and past relationship, the participant shared that she experienced insecurities, which led to her thinking that her ex-boyfriend deserved someone else.
Host Vice Ganda, who got moved by the accounts of April, decided to remove her wig to show her support for the searcher.
“Hindi ako nangingimi, kung makakatulong ‘to para makakuha ng kahit na katiting na kumpiyansa si April, why not,” Vice said in response to co-host Jhong’s banters and while slowly removing her wig.
The ‘Showtime’ host also added that she is already at a point where she does not mind what people would say about her hair, as she feels loved by the people around her, namely her husband Ion Perez, her mother, siblings, fellow hosts, and God.
“Hindi na rin ako affected doon sa mga panget na panget sa akin kapag walang wig. Yung “naku, si kabayo nagtatago lang naman yan sa wig.” Eh, bahala ka,” Vice said.
After removing her wig, both the host and April hugged each other and broke into tears, so did the other hosts of the show who comforted both of them.
In the past, Vice has shared her insecurities with her hair, noting that she emotional once her hairline began receding during the early days of the show and decided to wear wigs since then.
But in multiple occasions in the past, the ‘Unkabogable’ star removed her wig in front of the camera as a way to boost the confidence of other people.
In 2019, she also notably staged a special performance during the annual ‘Magpasikat’ anniversary showcase for those with the medical condition alopecia areata.
Vice’s team with former ‘It’s Showtime’ host Mariel Rodriguez-Padilla won as the overall champion of that year’s ‘Magpasikat’ competition.
