Two upcoming ABS-CBN films starring Kathryn Bernardo, unveiled

Kathryn Bernardo will star on not just one, but two upcoming productions from ABS-CBN Films.

On Monday, ABS-CBN Films and units Star Cinema and Black Sheep unveiled the upcoming movie projects lined-up for Asia’s Superstar Kathryn Bernardo.

First of, the Star Cinema project. Title ‘A Very Good Girl’, Bernardo will be joined by no less than the first Filipina Golden Globe nominee Dolly de Leon. To be directed by Petersen Vargas, the dark comedy film will be shown in cinemas later this year.

The other one, under Black Sheep, is titled ‘Elena 1944’. The action-period drama will revolve around the story of a comfort woman during the Second World War and the Japanese Occupation of the Philippines. The said project will be directed by Olivia M. Lamasan, with the screenplay written by Palanca awardee Patrick Valencia. ‘Elena 1944’ will hit theaters in 2024.

These two upcoming film projects will be the second and third time, respectively, of Bernardo to star in a project without the other half of ‘Kathniel’, Daniel Padilla. She previously went solo flight in the 2019 film ‘Hello, Love, Goodbye’, where she was paired with Alden Richards.

But KNs, don’t fret, as Kathryn also shared that apart from her two solo movie projects, she is still slated to do a film with her longtime reel-and-real partner Daniel Padilla. The still-untitled movie will also serve as theur big screen comeback after ‘The Hows of Us’ in 2018.

As it was already announced last year, Cathy Garcia-Molina will be on-board to direct the couple anew for their comeback movie. However, due to Molina’s upcoming wedding, the principal photography for the Kathniel movie project will be moved to a later date, presumably after ‘A Very Good Girl’.
