Christian Bables makes historic ‘TV Patrol’ appearance

Actor Christian Bables set several ‘TV Patrol’ records in tonight’s edition of the Kapamilya newscast.

On March 24, 2023, actor Christian Bables made his debut appearance on ABS-CBN’s flagship primetime newscast ‘TV Patrol’. Bables, known for his award-winning dramatic performances in movies and series, threw his acting hat off and traded it for a presenter one.

Bables not only presented news items on ‘TV Patrol’, but also set not just one, not two, but three milestones in the newscast’s 36-year-long run.

The first being the most notable: he is the first-ever male Star Patroller since the newscast’s launch in 1987. Apart from that, he also became the first-ever male Celebrity Star Patroller, an occasional practice in the newscast that started less than a decade ago.

Aside from that, he also presented the Sports Patrol segment, making him (again) the first ever male guest presenter to do so.

Finally, to cap off his historic ‘TV Patrol’ guesting, Bables also presented the last news item of the evening.

Prior to his ‘TV Patrol’ stint, Bables also attempted to present the ‘News Patrol’ hourly bulletin, albeit only through a behind-the-scene clip that he shared on social media.

According to him, he wanted to pursue broadcasting (a.k.a. presenting a newscast) if he had not become an actor.

Bables, outside of his news and current affairs stint, is currently portraying the role of Max Dionisio in the Kapamilya primetime series ‘Dirty Linen’. He also recently became a part of Prime Video’s ‘Ten Little Mistresses’. He is also an Urian awardee (Best Supporting Actor in ‘Die Beautiful) and MMFF Best Actor (for Big Night in 2021).
