It will mark the end of an era for the one-and-only Asia’s Songbird.

In a post on her Instagram account, OPM icon Regine Velasquez-Alcasid announced that the second of her two-night Finale concert will be free to the public.

The promoter behind the concert explained the move as a simple sign of gratitude by the Songbird. “Isang pasasalamat sa apatnapung taon,” it read.

According to the organizers, a blind ticketing system will be applied, with concertgoers to be assigned “the best seat available” at the time of allocation, with the registration set to start on July 30 at 6:00 pm.

The event is sentimental in nature as it is set to be her final major solo concert, which coincides with her 40th anniversary in the industry.

The icon previously hinted about it in her interview with Billboard Philippines’ Volumes back in March.

I’m celebrating my 40th year in the business, and to celebrate that, I’m going to have a concert sometime in October pero wala kaming date, wala pa kaming venue,” said RVA.

During which, she also revealed that she already considering retirement after doing some projects, which she did not enumerate, in 2027.

I still have mga projects next year, and eventually, I retire. Simple lang. Sabi ng asawa ko, retirement means not really stopping altogether,” she said, noting a word from her husband, Ogie Alcasid.

She added, “It means doing whatever it is you want to do, but it will free me from the pressure of trying to please everyone, which I like.”

At present, Regine Velasquez is also seen every Sunday noontime via the ABS-CBN musical variety show ASAP XP.
