The two comedy icons will be seen in one flick for the first time.
On Sunday, July 5, one major secret has been disclosed to the world. Two of the biggest comedians in the local entertainment industry are finally teaming up for a major collaboration movie this year.
They are none other than noontime stalwarts Vic Sotto from Eat Bulaga and Vice Ganda of It’s Showtime, who have finally crossed each other’s bridges to make what seemed impossible, a reality.
Entitled The Greatest Showdown, the film will be a major undertaking as well, with five studios joining forces — ABS-CBN Studios, Star Cinema, The Idea First Company, MZet Productions, and APT Entertainment.
The announcement of the film was made during an event at the Quantum Skyview at Gateway Mall 2 in Cubao, Quezon City — a “meeting place” that they agreed upon on the air during their respective programs on Saturday, July 4.
At helm of this partnership is critically-acclaimed director Jun Robles Lana, who will be marking his third consecutive year of doing films with Meme Vice, while it will be his first with Bossing Vic.
During the public press conference and movie reveal, Vice shared, “Excited na excited po kaming dalawa ni Bossing Vic na magpakita sa inyo ng isang magandang proyekto. At s’yempre, ang pelikula namin ng isa sa mga pinakamahuhusay na direktor ngayon sa buong Pilipinas, Direk Jun Robles Lana.”
The director likewise shared the enthusiasm over the mega collaboration and noted, “Natutupad na rin ‘yung gusto natin na magsama sila sa isang malaki at masayang pelikula.”
For his part, Vic noted that both his and Vice’s previous films were of serious and dramatic nature. Bossing‘s most recent film was The Kingdom in 2024, while Meme did Call Me Mother in 2025.
“Kaya ngayon, magpapasaya tayo! Magpapatawa tayo ng mga Dabarkads, Madlang People, at ng buong Pilipinas!” he exclaimed.
Vice also shared that it is called a “hardcore comedy” movie. “Walang kaseryosohang proyekto. Ang seryoso lang at tawa at halakhak nating lahat.”
“Pero, bukod sa tawa’t halakhak, nasisiguro namin na marami kayong mapupulot na aral,” Vic assured the public.
Vice also teased that the project pertains to something that happens in a normal neighborhood. “Kaya kapag napanood n’yo ang pelikulang ito, masasabi n’yong sumasalamin ito sa buhay natin,” she added.
While the date for the movie is still kept under wraps, it is expected by observers to be an entry to the 52nd Metro Manila Film Festival, which will happen this December.
The first batch of entries to the MMFF are expected to be announced on Tuesday, July 7, by the executive committee in Greenhills, San Juan.
