It is a new era for lovers of their pie.

On Friday, July 3, the Philippine branches of the global fastfood chain McDonald’s unveiled three new flavors of its pie — a move that came days after the restaurant removed its famous apple pie from its menu.

The said new flavors, it revealed, are Choco Lava Puff, Poptato, and Taro Custard Pie.

It noted rhat the Choco Lava Puff is “filled with smooth and rich chocolate,” while the Poptato is “crispy on the outside and soft inside.”

As for its Taro Custard flavor, it is noted to have been made with “real taro chunks,” according to the company.

Collectively, the three flavors are part of a new promotional activity which combines it with other “mains” on its menu.

Meanwhile, it was last June 29 when it discontinued the apple pie, with the announcement coinciding with US-based operations recent announcement of the return of the Fried Apple Pie for a limited time.

According to a report by USA Today, the Fried Apple Pie was first introduced at McDonald’s locations in east Tennessee in the 1960s and was available for 30 years until it was discontinued in 1992 in favor of the baked version.

The move for the stateside operations is in conjunction with the nearing celebration of the United States’ 250th anniversary of independence on July 4.
