Ex-senator Bong Revilla surrenders over flood control charges, now detained in Payatas jail

It is in relation to his alleged involvement in the flood control corruption case.

Following the issuance of an arrest warrant by the Sandiganbayan on Monday, January 19, against former Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla and his co-accused, including the former Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) district engineers Bryce Hernandez and Jaypee Mendoza who were both under the custody of Senate.

They were ordered to be arrested over their alleged links to the PHP92.8 million “ghost” or inexistent flood control project in Bulacan, with the action star being charged with technical malversation.

Revilla was accused by a former Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) official of receiving kickbacks in exchange for endorsing flood control projects.

Following this development, Revilla made his voluntary surrender at the national headquarters of the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Camp Crame in Quezon City.

While en route to the police camp, the ex-politician and actor took to Facebook to share a message.

Magandang gabi po, mga kababayan. Nakatanggap po kami ng impormasyon na lumabas na ang aking warrant of arrest,” he opened the video,” where he was audibly emotional.

He said that he was saddened by what happened, and told, “Parang wala na po yatang due process. Pero ganunpaman, haharapin ko ‘to nang walang takot at alam kong hindi ako pababayaan ng Diyos dahil wala akong kasalanan dito.“,

Hihilingin ko lang na bigyan ninyo ako ng panalangin at patatagin niyo rin po ang aking pamilya,” added Revilla.

Lastly, “‘Di ko po maipaliwanag kung ano ang nararamdaman ko, sa totoo lang. Napakasakit po para sa akin at para sa aking pamilya.”

Pending the decision of the Sandiganbayan Third Division on his camp’s request for him to be detained at the PNP Custodial Facility, where he stayed while his case over the PDAF Scam was ongoing, Revilla was brought to the new Quezon City Jail.

Currently, as per Secretary of Interior and Local Government Jonvic Remulla, the Custodial Center os undergoing renovation works.

As for the other facility, which is located in Payatas, was first revealed to the public late 2025 as the detention site for those being charged in relation to the flood control case. To date, six other former DPWH officials who are involved in a project in Naujan, Oriental Mindoro are inside the male dormitory.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, Palace Press Officer Usec. Claire Castro was also asked by members of the press to comment on former senator Ramon Revilla Jr.’s complaint of the alleged lack of due process.
