In an update to its ‘New and Hot‘ tab, streaming service Netflix officially announced the forthcoming inclusion of the 50th Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entry, ‘And The Breadwinner Is,’ to its library.
As per its calendar, the movie that was written and directed by the award-winning Jun Robles Lana will become available on Independence Day, June 12.
‘Breadwinner‘ top bills Vice Ganda as Bambi, an overseas worker who ends her work abroad to finally enjoy the fruits of her labor, only to discover that her family squandered her savings.
After an accident, she was thought to be dead, but she later resurfaced unscathed. The family then devises a plan to get her insurance money—but she has to roll with it and continue being “lifeless” to get the bag.
Also part of the movie are Eugene Domingo, Gladys Reyes, Jhong Hilario, Malou de Guzman, along with Maris Racal, Anthony Jennings, Kokoy de Santos, MC Muah, Lassy Marquez, Via Antonio, Kiko Matos, and child star Argus Aspiras.
‘And The Breadwinner Is‘ was also the highest-grossing movie of the 50th MMFF, grossing Php 400 million in the box office according to Star Cinema.
It also joins the growing list of MMFF entries streaming on Netflix, with ‘My Future You,’ ‘Hold Me Close,’ ‘Espantaho,’ and ‘Uninvited‘ already added or will be added in the coming days.
