In a report by the entertainment trade publication Variety, it revealed that Toon City Animation and Play Lab Studios is working on a new project, which they will soon launch at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in France this June.

Entitled Sun Chasers, it is created by Bobby Pontillas and Bernard Badion and is made by an all-Filipino team of artists in the Philippines.

According to its website, the animation project is a 26X11 series, which is a fantasy adventure rooted in Filipino mythology and magic.

It follows Jordan Santos, an unassuming teen whose chill summer in the Philippines takes a wild turn when a supernatural threat plunges his island into chaos,” the description read.

The company continued, “As ancient powers awaken and long-buried family secrets come to light, Jordan must rise to the call of a legacy he never knew he had—protecting the rift between the human and spirit worlds.

Sun Chaser is a story about discovering who you are, and what you’re meant to become,” added the producers.

Manny Jacinto, known for his roles in The Good Place and Freakier Friday, will play as the voice actor of the lead character Jordan Santos.

Also confirmed for the project are other Filipino actors, led by Liza Soberano, Eugene Cordero, JR de Guzman, Charo Santos, Dingdong Dantes and his daughter Zia Dantes, AC Bonifacio, and KD Estrada.

Meanwhile, Toon City Animation said it is currently seeking collaborators, producers, and partners to help bring the world of Sun Chaser to life and are looking for broadcasters and distributors.

“We’re building something rooted in culture, adventure, and heart—and we’re just getting started,” they added.
