As his name continues to be at the center of the issue.
In a statement posted onto his official social media account, ‘Ang Mutya Ng Section E‘ star and member of newly-launched P-pop group GAT shared further explanation to his fans.
This is in connection with a viral video that circulated online earlier this month, which also involved the likes of BINI members Jhoanna, Colet, and Stacey, and Shawn Castro.
David wrote, “I would like to take this opportunity to address and clarify the speculations that have recently surfaced online. Over the past few days, I have been receiving a significant amount of hate across social media platforms, which has taken a toll on my mental health. It is painful to see false narratives being spread especially ones that affect not only me but also the people close to me.”
“Let me be clear.. I have NEVER been involved in any inappropriate relationship with a minor, and I will never tolerate nor condone such behavior. I have always been firmly against it. The accusations being made are not only baseless but extremely damaging,” he emphasized.
He then disclosed private information, which he felt was “necessary to address to further shed light on the subject.”
“To clarify the confusion surrounding the video, the joking comments heard in the video led to a misunderstanding that I was grooming a 13 year old. In reality, I was the 13 year old being referred to,” with Ethan detailing that the situation being discussed dates back to his time as a young teenager experiencing innocent puppy love in Canada.
“Out of respect for the privacy of the other individual involved, I will not name anyone. However, I want to emphasize that it was nothing more than a harmless, age-appropriate childhood experience,” the GAT member furthered.
The young actor-singer then wrote his apology anew, “Muli, humihingi po ako ng tawad sa lahat ng tao na naapektuhan sa sitwasyon. Lalo na po sa mga kaibigan at pamilya ko. Naiintindihan ko po nagkamali ako and I will carry this experience moving forward with greater awareness and respect.”
“Thank you to those who continue to support and understand me. I hope this clears up any misunderstanding,” he capped his statement.
David portrays the character Calix in the live action adaptation of ‘Ang Mutya Ng Section E,‘ which streams on Viva One and will soon become available on TV5 starting May 19.
He is also part of the Filipino boy group GAT, which was launched in December 2024, known for their rendition of the ‘AMNSE‘ official soundtrack ‘Daleng-Dale,’ originally created and sang by the duo MMJ in 2012.
Aside from his current works, Ethan also uploads covers of songs through his digital channels.
