Joining two of the most-respected female journalists in the country.
On Monday, April 28, Willard Cheng officially made his debut on the Bilyonaryo News Channel (BNC) with his first broadcast on the fledgling network’s flagship primetime newscast ‘Agenda‘.
Cheng, former senior reporter at ABS-CBN News, joins the channel as a seasoned journalist with over 20 years of experience, with his previous major coverages being the likes of Pope Francis’ 2015 Apostolic visit to the Philippunes and stories concerning the Foreign Affairs department, among his other beats.
Towards the end of the show, co-anchors Korina Sanchez-Roxas and Pinky Webb formally welcomed the new member of the growing BNC squad.
“Excited at kabado (ako)… bagong eskwelahan, parang first day sa school,” Cheng shared.
He also expressed his excitement upon reuniting with Korina and Pinky, both of whom he previously worked with in the past at ABS-CBN.
According to his author page at the ABS-CBN website, Willard Cheng is an Ateneo cum laude graduate and Saint Jude alumnus.
He also contributed to the Kapamilya network’s defunct late-night newscast ‘Bandila‘ when it got a nood at the 2007 Emmys, on top of being also two-time IVLP fellow.
Prior to his departure, Cheng filed reports for ABS-CBN news programs like ‘TV Patrol‘ and ‘The World Tonight,’ and served as anchor of the news advisory program ‘News Patrol‘.
