‘Pinoy Big Brother Gen 11’ registers record-high TV ratings during finale week

The last few episodes of the reality show’s latest season propelled it to the top of the ratings board.

The last few episodes of the reality show’s latest season propelled it to the top of the ratings board.

As it entered its final week, ABS-CBN’s long-running franchised reality program ‘Pinoy Big Brother Gen 11’ proved its enduring popularity in legacy television.

From Monday, October 21, until Saturday, October 28, the show was able to defeat its rival programs on other stations, according to the collated data by Nielsen Philippines.

On Monday night, ‘PBB’ registered 4.2% in its 10:15 pm time slot, one-and-a-half percentage points higher than of GMA’s late-night newscast ‘Saksi.’

The streak continued on Tuesday, with ‘Pinoy Big Brother Gen 11’ getting a slightly higher mark of 4.5%, versus the 2.7% of ‘Saksi.’

While the Wednesday night viewing figures in the time slot saw a dip on both sides, the ABS-CBN show maintained its lead with a 4.0% rating against the 2.4% garnered by the GMA newscast.

Poor weather brought by severe tropical storm Kristine did not dent the momentum, as the Thursday episode on October 24 saw the Kapamilya reality program go up to 4.8%, with the longest-running Kapuso newscast getting 2.7%.

Friday, October 25, marked the last weekday edition of the show and its last regular episode before the much-awaited ‘Big Night’ the following evening.

Excitement was not contained, as that episode got 5.8% — the highest television rating posted by any ABS-CBN program post-shutdown. It bested the record-high 5.3% viewing figure of Asian drama ‘Count Your Lucky Stars’ in 2021.

Moving on to the grand finale live special on Saturday, October 26, viewers tuned in and saw the final placement of the four remaining housemates and the eventual naming of Fyang Smith as the batch’s ‘Big Winner.’

That special, aired simultaneously over Kapamilya Channel, A2Z, and TV5, achieved a 10.0% TV rating. It trailed its nearest competitor, GMA’s drama anthology program ‘Magpakailanman,’ which stood at 8.3% during that evening.

The ‘Pinoy Big Brother Gen 11: Big Night’ now holds the record for ABS-CBN’s highest weekend television viewing figure since the 2020 shutdown, succeeding the 9.7% mark previously set by noontime show ‘It’s Showtime’ during its GMA debut on April 6, 2024.

On top of that, a record-smashing 2.2 million peak live concurrent viewers also tuned in to witness the conclusion of the 100-day-long season.

Since its launch in 2005, ‘Pinoy Big Brother’ past winners include Nene Tamayo, Bea Saw, Kim Chiu, Ejay Falcon, Melai Cantiveros, James Reid, Slater Young, and Maymay Entrata, among others.
