Apart from Manila, 2NE1’s ‘Welcome Back’ concert will also be held in Japan, Jakarta, Hong Kong, Singapore, Bangkok, and Taipei.
The group made its official debut on May 17, 2009 when they released the single ‘Fire’.
2NE1 went on to become one of the most prominent female groups in the K-pop scene, having cemented their popularity through the successive hit songs like ‘I Don’t Care,’ ‘Go Away,’ ‘Can’t Nobody,’ ‘Lonely,’ ‘I Am The Best,’ ‘I Love You,’ ‘Falling In Love,’ ‘Do You Love Me,’ and ‘Come Back Home,’ among others.
In November 2016, after seven years as team and following Minzy’s departure a few months before, YG announced 2NE1’s disbandment and released the group’s final single ‘Goodbye.’
However, it would not be the last time that the group’s original line-up will be seen together, as they made their surprise on-stage reunion during Coachella 2022.
In June 2024, it was confirmed by YG Entertainment that it met with the four members held a meeting, which served as the first indication of a reunion project of the team after eight years.
2NE1 joins their contemporaries Girls’ Generation, Brown Eyed Girls, and 2PM to be some of the ‘2nd gen’ groups to have made their respective comebacks in recent years.
