“No other mall comes close.”
On May 21, 2006, mall chain operator SM Supermalls and then-President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo opened the biggest mall in the country, the SM Mall of Asia complex in Pasay City.
When it first opened that year, it boasted some of the country’s most-advanced mall amenities, such as the Philippines’ first IMAX theater and the iconic globe in front of the main mall.
At present, the sprawling complex now houses multiple stores, such as the world’s biggest IKEA store, the SMX Convention Center, SM Mall of Asia Arena, the Conrad Hotel, and office spaces through its E-com office towers.
