ABS-CBN’s noontime variety show ‘It’s Showtime’ was beamed across multiple platforms — including TV on Kapamilya Channel, A2Z, and GTV — on Tuesday, September 5, 2023.
This is despite the release of a 12-day suspension order by the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) on Monday, September 4.
During the opening of the show, host Jhong Hilario addressed the matter and read the official statement from ABS-CBN

Buong puso kaming nagpapasalamat sa lahat ng nagmamahal at sumusuporta sa “It’s Showtime.”
The program then continued airing its usual format, with Vice Ganda also appearing in the said episode.
What happened in a nutshell…
On Monday, September 4, the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board issued their decision on the complaints regarding the controversial “cake icing” scene in the Isip Bata segment of the show’s July 25 episode.
The said portion involved hosts and real-life couple Vice Ganda and Ion Perez who ate the icing using their own hands.
But, that caused uproar on social media when personalities and vloggers alike called the segment as “indecent” and “not fit for television.”
The MTRCB heeded to that and issued ‘Showtime’ producers a notice to appear and testify before the board on July 31.
According to the board, team ‘Showtime’ has also submitted their position paper on the matter.
Hence, over a month later, we are here and the board has reached an initial decision to suspend the program for 12 airing days.
How did ‘It’s Showtime’ air today?
Noting that the MTRCB order will only take into effect after finality, their provision to allow ABS-CBN submit a Motion for Reconsideration within 15 days is understood to mean that they have not reached finality in the case yet.
Furthermore, the MTRCB adjudication panel once the motion has been filed can either drop, maintain, or prolong the suspension period or related penalties for ‘Showtime.’
With ABS-CBN’s announcement of their intention to file the motion, the case of ‘Showtime’ in the MTRCB will likely remain open still and will remain as such in the foreseeable future.
