The One group of channels has a new sibling. Enter One Screen.
On June 15, 2020, Cignal TV launched their 5th One-branded channel on tha platform — following the leads of One News, One PH, One Sports, and One Sports+, respectively. One Screen is the new destination for all viewers who are looking for movies and teleseryes in the platform.
Initially though, One Screen was only available to users of Cignal Play, TV5 and Cignal TV’s streaming service. It was technically on test run on the streaming platform from September 2019 up until its television launch.
One Screen will immediately throw viewers back to the ’90s as it airs the original Mexican version of MariMar starring Thalia. The series, which was first aired on RPN 9 in 1996, was such a cultural phenomenon that it (both directly and indirectly) caused major TV networks to air teleseryes on primetime.
Along with the series are Betty en NY — a 2019 remake of Betty La Fea, archived TV5 shows Lola Basyang.com, Kano Luvs Pinay, and even GMA fantaserye Majika, which starred Angel Locsin and Dennis Trillo. Original Cignal Entertainment shows will also be broadcasted/reaired on the channel. Throughout the day, viewers will also catch several local and foreign movies.
One Screen surely lives to its slogan “pelikula o teleserye man, may One Screen para riyan.” But what’s more interesting in this case is that it’s neither premium, nor purely ‘masa’. Thus, it also creates some overlap with sister Cignal channel Sari-Sari — a joint venture between Viva Entertainment. However, OS will surely fill the void that Fox Filipino’s demise might bring to their loyal viewers.
Nevertheless, the introduction of One Screen is a welcome development to the viewers on Cignal who are always craving for entertainment via movies and drama serials.
One Screen is available on Cignal TV channel 9 and streaming live on the Cignal Play app.
