This, as she promised a reward to the person who would be able to prove that she did cough in her past roles.
During a recent media conference for Blood Vs. Duty, seasoned actress Susan Africa launched a challenge to the public: find a clip where she coughed in one of her previous works.
At the said conference, she was responding to the viral online chatter, where she was branded to be portraying sickly characters who coughed a lot.
The 66-year-old denied that and said it was just a result of the “Mandela effect” that caused her to be associated.
She also noted that she only remembers having portrayed a character with the same description for a movie with Vice Ganda, The Mall, The Merrier, where she was asked to portray such.
Nonetheless, the internet went into frenzy and dug deep into the archives to find a clip that would prove otherwise.
And a few days after that, the actress shared on social media that there is already a winner. She is none other than Sheena Rose Traifalgar, a 3rd year college student from Iloilo.
According to Susan, she was the first to submit a video of a scene from Mara Clara where she was seen coughing. In the image she showed, the said scene was lifted from Episode 714 of the long-running series that aired from 1992 to 1997.
“Thank you for refreshing my memory of a scene I did many decades ago which I’ve already forgotten, Sheena,” added the season actress.
She also noted that she also did not remember the scenes submitted by other people. Nonetheless, she said she feels “blessed” to have played myriad roles in the past four decades in the industry.
“But my sincerest thanks to all who joined this cough challenge. I appreciate your efforts in finding scenes from my past works. I hope you all had fun joining this amusing game,” the Blood Vs. Duty actress added.
Meanwhile, regarding the “Mandela effect” that she uttered, Susan said, “I concede that although it might not be accurate at this point, I maintain that though I may cough occasionally in a few roles in the past, I do not cough in ALL of my teleseryes.“
She also expressed gratitude to ABS-CBN that had given her multiple roles in various teleseryes in the past decades.
