It will give fans and viewers a different side of the two actors.
On July 23, the new Thai action-thriller film entitled The Debt Collector will make its premiere on streaming giant Netflix.
Under the direction of Surapong Ploensang, the new movie is topbilled by one of Thailand’s most beloved leading men who is making his debut on Netflix, Nadech Kugimiya, who will portray the role of Num.
His character is described as “a former debt collector burdened by his past sins.”
According to the platform, “After prison and a terminal illness leave him with little time remaining, he attempts to walk away from the life he once knew. But when he becomes entangled in another act of brutality, he is forced back into a world he hoped never to see again — and into one final fight for redemption.“
“Not a conventional hero, but someone shaped by regret, moral ambiguity, and the question of whether some debts can ever truly be repaid,” they furthered teased.
It was also noted that the Thai superstar experienced one of the most dramatic transformations in his career for the movie, as he underwent a significant physical transformation, stripping away the familiar image audiences had associated with him for more than a decade — complete with tattoos, scars, weathered skin, and physical exhaustion.
In a statement, Nadech shared, “Another interesting aspect of the character, which I don’t usually play, is the character’s depth, the way he expresses his feelings and emotions. I’m someone who, when I act or feel something, I express it a lot through my facial muscles or body language. But in this project, I had to swallow all those feelings.”
Meanwhile, Daou-Pittaya Saechua will also be making his Netflix debut through the project and will embracing his character Po, who is described as the volatile son of a powerful loan shark whose hunger for power and recognition pushes him toward increasingly dangerous choices.
Like Nadech, Daou also told that his character in the movie is different from “simply playing a typical leading man or being in a romance story.”
“I wanted to see whether I could truly bring this character to life and make audiences believe it. If people end up hating the character, I would actually consider that a success,” he added.
The Debt Collector also said that the story “builds toward a clash between two men shaped by the same system in very different ways. Yet beneath the action lies a deeper story about consequence.”
“More than a story about debt collectors, the film is a story about the debts people carry throughout life: debts of guilt, debts of responsibility, debts owed to others, and debts owed to themselves. It is a story about people trying to move forward despite the mistakes, scars, and consequences that continue to follow them,” they also said.
