It comes after repairs at the airport were fast tracked.

On Sunday, June 14, the  Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) announced that commercial flight operations at General Santos International Airport resumes on Monday, June 15, 2026.

According to Transportation Secretary Giovanni Lopez, he committed that the commercial operations of the GenSan Airport will resume within a week after the June 8 quake.

Nagsagawa na ang DOTr at CAAP ng kumpletong safety assessment, and we confirmed na pwede nang ituloy bukas ‘yung commercial operations sa GenSan Airport para hindi na maantala ‘yung biyahe ng ating mga pasahero,” Lopez said in his statement.

In addition, the CAAP also conducted coordination meetings with airline operators, airport stakeholders, and government agencies to ensure the continued safe and efficient operation of General Santos Airport.

Passengers were also advised to coordinate directly with their respective airlines regarding flight schedules and travel arrangements.

For Philippine Airlines (PAL/PR) passengers,  the following flights have already resumed their services to and from the General Santos.

These are flights PR 453/454 (Manila-General Santos-Manila), PR 2455/2456 (Manila-General Santos-Manila), PR 2357/2358 (Cebu-General Santos-Cebu), and PR 2339/2340 (Cebu-General Santos-Cebu)

The flag carrier, however, reminded passengers that due to limited terminal capacity and reduced check-in counter availability at the GenSan airport, passengers are advised to plan for adequate time for check-in and boarding procedures.

Although, passengers are requested not to arrive earlier than four (4) hours before the scheduled flight, as the terminal can accommodate only a limited number of passengers.

Furthermore, the Mabuhay Lounge at General Santos Airport remains temporarily closed due to ongoing repairs following earthquake-related damage.

It also reminded passengers to ensure that bookings are confirmed prior to travel, as only confirmed passengers will be accommodated. To verify booking status and view updated flight schedules, passengers should visit the dedicate portal on the PAL website.
