After initially being reported to be joining the Parma Ladies Open in Italy, which has begun on Tuesday (May 12), Filipina tennis sensation Alex Eala moved to skip the WTA 125 tournament.

Instead, the 20-year-old will be moving her way to the upcoming Strasbourg Open in France, where she has been included in the WTA 500 tournament, which will happen from Sunday (May 17) until May 23.

This development will now make Strasbourg her final match before the French Open 2026, which is slated to start on May 18 and will run until June 7.

Just this week, Eala bowed out of both the women’s singles and women’s doubles categories of the Italian Open.

She ended her run in the singles category after losing in her Round of 32 match against 26-year-old Elena Rybakina, who is currently number 2 globally, 6-4, 6-3.

Meanwhile, in the doubles category, she teamed up with Hailey Baptiste, and competed in the Round of 32 of the women’s doubles against Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend, with the duo losing in the match, 6-2, 6-1.
