The members are moving forward to new chapter in their lives.
Last Wednesday, April 29, Korean music label C9 Entertainment announced that the K-pop group CIX will be ending their group activities.
This development comes ahead of the upcoming expiration of the exclusive contracts of its members—BX, Seunghun, Yonghee, and Hyunsuk.
“CIX, who has spent the past seven years with their fans engaging in various activities after debuting on July 21, 2019, will now be halting their group activities,” read the company’s statement, as reported by the Korean entertainment website Soompi.
They continued, “Although we repeatedly engaged in serious and in-depth discussions with the members over several months about continuing group activities, everyone ultimately came to the agreement that at this point in time, halting group activities is unavoidable.”
C9 also said that they feel a “profound sense of sorrow” about this decision, as they have all worked together on the CIX brand for nearly seven years.
The first two contracts to expire are BX’s and Seunghun’s, which ended on April 30, while Yonghee’s deal with C9 will end on the date of his military enlistment on May 11.
“Yonghee’s exclusive contract will end at the time of his enlistment, and there will be no separate event held on the day of his enlistment,” added the company. “However, we are preparing a small event for Yonghee to say goodbye to his fans before his enlistment, and the details will be announced at a later date through a notice on the fan cafe.”
As for Hyunsuk, who is currently filming a drama series, his exclusive contract will end on May 31.
The company also asked fans to give their warm support to members who will be embarking different paths in their lives.
“We will continue to make tangible efforts, including ongoing communication with the members, in the hopes that one day in the future, the CIX brand may return to you with music that is distinctly CIX’s unique style,” C9 wrote before concluding the message with a sincere note of gratitude to fans.
CIX was first introduced as a five-member group, alongside Bae Jinyoung, in July 2019 with their first mini-album being Hello Chapter 1: Hello, Stranger, which carried their debut track entitled Movie Star.
Since then, they have released singles like Numb, Cinema, Wave, 458, Save Me, Kill Me, Lovers or Enemies, and Thunder.
