What if the most unusual group of people becomes the team of heroes that could save your town?
On Thursday, April 30, streaming giant Netflix released the main trailer and poster of its upcoming superpower comedy adventure series entitled The WONDERfools.
The series is set in 1999 in the fictional neighborhood of Haeseong-si, where a group of misfits unexpectedly gain powers and find themselves, against all odds, trying to save their city and, perhaps, the world.
Top-billing the series are Park Eun-bin, who will portray Chae-ni, Cha Eunwoo as Un-jeon, Choi Dae-hoon as Gyeong-hun, and Im Seong-jae as Ro-bin.
The trailer opens blood dripping from the nose of the neighborhood’s official troublemaker, Chae-ni, leading her to question if she’s going to die.
Shouting that she wants to live to see the end of the world, she suddenly acquires teleportation powers that send her bouncing from an abandoned greenhouse to a boat, and even tumbling into the Joseon era through a wardrobe.
Meanwhile, Ro-bin is left stunned when he casually tosses a can and it punches through a wall, and Gyeong-hun finds his feet stuck firmly to the ground.
They will then meet Un-jeong, who skillfully uses his telekinesis powers, leading them to call him as their master and begun following him around, much to his flustered dismay.
Elsewhere, word will spread that people are mysteriously disappearing again, just as they did 20 years ago. Which leads to Dr. Ha Won-do and the three Wunderkinder, who will bring tension to the story.
The WonderFOOLS will premiere worldwide on Netflix starting May 15.
