Moving forward, she will concentrate on her other duties within the Kapatid network.
In a post on her Facebook account, seasoned broadcaster Laila Pangilinan, also known by her radio moniker Laila Chikadora, announced a major career move for her.
This, as she will be stepping back from doing radio after the end of her nightly program, Shout Out, on 105.9 True FM on Friday, May 1.
In her post, she wrote: “The end of an era. For over 25 years, I’ve had the privilege of being a guest in your homes, your cars, and your workplaces. From Monday to Friday, we’ve shared the rhythm of daily life. I was the silent witness to your stories through the songs I played—your heartbreaks, your triumphs, and your quiet moments.”
“A lot of you grew old with me. We’ve spent years together, 5 days a week through every season of life,” she continued.
Laila then shared that it was more than a one-way relationship as for her, listeners became “massive part” of her life.
“But here’s what you might not know: You weren’t just listeners to me. You were my companions. You have been a massive part of my life, and you kept me going more than you’ll ever know,” wrote the Kapatid personality.
“They say radio is a one-way street, but I never felt alone because of you. You’ve been the heartbeat behind every broadcast.”
She then dropped the major announcement as she disclosed her exit from the medium after a quarter of a century.
“As I prepare to step away from the booth, my heart is full of gratitude,” Laila expressed. “This is my final week on the airwaves.”
“Samahan niyo ako sa huling limang araw ko sa radyo. Let’s look back, share a few laughs, and maybe shed a tear or two. This is our final countdown. Sa huling pagkakataon… mag-ingay tayo!” added the broadcaster.
Laila started her career on radio through ABS-CBN’s DZMM Radyo Patrol 630 and 101.9 For Life, which had various iterations throughout her tenure.
She would later jump ship to TV5 in 2010 and became one of then-fledgling News5’s reporters.
When True FM’s predecessor, Radyo5 92.3 News FM, opened in November that year, she would also eventually double duties and host her own programs such as ShowBisto, Night Chat, and the Morning Calls.
After the end of her current show, Shout Out, Laila confirmed that she will remain visible on TV as co-host of TV5’s morning show Gud Morning Kapatid and the talk show Face To Face With Ate Koring, as well as a reporter on news programs such as the flagship Frontline Pilipinas.
