On Tuesday, April 28, the Cignal Super Spikers management confirmed the weeks-long rumors about the future of the its team in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL).

In a statement, the company said that it has officially filed a “leave of absence” from the said tournament—where it most recently returned to the finals of the All-Filipino Conference, but lost to the Creamline Cool Smashers.

The company explained, “This difficult decision was taken after careful review of Cignal’s strategic direction.”

They also expressed gratitude to fans of the team that have supported them over the years.

“Our deepest thanks go out to the players, coaches, and staff who have poured their hearts into this team over the years. And to our fans, who have stood by us, maraming, maraming salamat!” the statement further read.

Members of the Cignal Super Spikers’ women’s volleyball team are Conference MVP Vanie Gandler, Erika Santos, Gel Cayuna, Dawn Catindig, Rose Doria-Aquino, Jackie Acuña, and Tine Tiamzon.

There is no information yet as to where the players are heading to following the disbandment of the team.

Since joining the PVL in 2021, Cignal has clinched three silver medals and five bronze finishes.

This announcement follows a similar move done by the satellite TV provider to the Cignal Super Spikers’ men’s volleyball team, which also filed a leave of absence from the PVL’s sister league, the Spikers’ Turf.

It was similarly noted that Cignal was reassessing its current and future plans.

Back to the Premier Volleyball League, there have been other teams the filed LOAs in recent months—Chery Tiggo Crossovers in December 2025 and Petro Gazz Angels in February.
