With auditions now underway for his replacement.
In a statement uploaded on its social media accounts, streaming service Viva One announced on Tuesday, April 21, an update regarding the upcoming series Dating Alys Perez, the sequel to the live action adaptation of Seducing Drake Palma.
Kapatid star Dylan Menor, who had played the character of Tripp Palma in the first book, will no longer return to the project, which is topbilled by Rabin Angeles and Angela Muji, who portray the characters of Drake Palma and Alys Perez, respectively.
“We also want a perfect date… But sadly that is not how it always goes,” the production conveyed. “Dylan Menor will not be back for Dating Alys Perez.“
It continued, “Dylan has brought to life Tripp Palma in Seducing Drake Palma, and his performance has been instrumental in the success of the first season.”
They noted that Dylan’s commitments and the schedule of the production needed to be considered.
“[A]nd as we owe it to the fans to continue the journey and story of Drake, Alys, and even Tripp, all parties involved have come to the agreement that the show must go on: start the trip towards a new Tripp,” they added.
Viva One confirmed that Tripp Palma will be returning, but will instead be brought to life by a new actor and are already in the process of auditioning the new Tripp.
“We hope fans will continue to support whichever new actor will bring justice to the character, the way fans supported Dylan,” the team expressed.
Lastly, they also thanked Dylan and expressed their full support toward his new endeavors.
This digital series, which crossed over to television, is based on the Wattpad story created by Beeyotch.
The story follows the central characters Drake Palma (portrayed by Rabin Angeles) and Alys Perez (played by Angela Muji).
Their relationship started with a request from Alys’ friend, Sheen (Ethan David) who wanted her to make the smart but aloof guy her boyfriend as a request and to make Kei (Rafa Victorino) fall for him instead of Drake.
Despite the initial pushback, the leading lady took on the impossible mission and made it a reality. Later on, the facade was broken and the stoic guy fell for her.
While it was still streaming on Viva One, TV5 picked up the rights to broadcast it on free-to-air television and placed it every weeknight after Frontline Pilipinas from July to September 2025.
Meanwhile, Dylan also remains visible on Viva One, as his latest project, Project Loki, streams on the platform alongside Cignal Play, with the television broadcast also due to begin this May on TV5.
There, he portrays the titular lead role Loki Mendez, with Jayda Avanzado as Lorelei Rios, and Marco Gallo as Luthor Mendez.
Menor is also seen in the music-variety show Vibe, which airs from Monday to Saturday evenings on the Kapatid network.
