It was previously brought to other major universities around the metro.
On Thursday, November 13, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and its partner, AF Payments, Inc. (AFPI) brought to the University of Santo Tomas (UST) campus in Manila its White Beep Card Caravan.
Through which, students, persons with disabilities, and senior citizens, will be able to quickly get their personalized cards that come with a 50 percent discount on LRT-1, LRT-2, and MRT-3.
According to Acting Transportation Secretary Giovanni Lopez, the caravan removes the hassle for these sectors, as they no longer need to queue at train stations to get these passes.
“Definitely, less hassle ito dahil mismong sa mga eskwelahan ay makakakuha na agad ang mga estudyante ng white beep cards. Lagyan lang nila ito ng load at pagsakay nila ng tren, maa-avail agad nila ang 50 percent discount,” said Lopez.
The agency has set the goal of giving these passes to 1,100 students and 120 senior citizens and PWDs na makakuha ng discount cards during the three-day White Beep Card Caravan in UST, which will last until Saturday, November 15, at 5:00 pm.
In the coming weeks, the caravan that had also been brought to the likes of the De La Salle University, Far Eastern University, and the University of the Philippines, will be set up in other schools in the coming weeks.
