Even those with the digital version only can avail of the promo.
Effective last Wednesday, August 6, the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) began a special program for all passengers that have their National IDs.
“Magkakaroon ng Libreng Sakay ang MRT-3 sa lahat ng Miyerkules ng buwan ng Agosto para sa mga pasaherong gagamit ng National ID sa pagsakay ng linya,” it said in a statement.
The free rides are scheduled to be implemented during select hours on August 6, 13, 20, and 27, 2025.
It will be available in the morning from 9:00 am to 11:00 am, and from 6:00 pm hanggang 8:00 pm for evening commuters.
They will only need to present either of the following: the physical PVC card, the paper version, or the digital version tonthe security personnel stationed at the service gates.
As per the MRT-3 management, the program is in line with the government’s initiatives to further increase the usage of National ID for daily transactions.
According to the Philippine Statistics Authority, more than 91 million people in the country have already registered for the National ID as of November 2024—which accounts to 98.9% of target registrants.
